USING TUNI

Terms of use

The practical terms for learning with Tuni Chinese, using this website and purchasing Tuni Pro.

Last updated

Before you begin

  • Tuni is a learning tool for personal use, with free and paid features.
  • App Store subscriptions are managed through your Apple Account.
  • These terms preserve your mandatory consumer rights.

About these terms

These terms apply to Tuni Chinese and tunichinese.app, operated by the publisher identified below. Please read them before using the service. If you do not agree, do not use it. If you cannot legally agree on your own, ask a parent or guardian to review and authorize your use and purchases.

The Privacy policy explains our data practices. Agreeing to these terms does not replace any separate consent required for optional communications or data processing.

Learning with Tuni

Tuni provides Chinese vocabulary, pronunciation, practice, reading and supporting features. Learning results depend on your practice and circumstances. Tuni does not guarantee fluency, an examination result or a formal qualification.

We work to improve content, but errors may occur. You can report a word, translation or exercise through Help. Content and feature availability can vary by app version, device, language and purchase.

Some learning material and audio are prepared with AI assistance before publication. Tuni is not a live AI tutor. Treat lesson content as a learning aid and report suspected errors; it is not certified advice or an official examination service.

App license and permitted use

For the iOS app, Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement applies unless an applicable custom license is expressly supplied with the app. These service terms supplement that license; they do not replace it or Apple’s purchase terms.

You may use Tuni for your own learning. Do not unlawfully copy, resell or redistribute its lessons, illustrations, audio, mascot or software, bypass paid access, or interfere with the service. Rights granted by applicable law and third-party open-source or content licenses remain unaffected.

Tuni Pro and prices

Some features require Tuni Pro. The purchase screen and App Store confirmation show the available plan, included access, price, currency, billing period and any trial or introductory offer before you confirm. Availability and pricing may differ by region.

Apple handles App Store billing. A one-time purchase, if offered, is charged once and does not automatically renew. Keep access to the Apple Account used to purchase so you can restore eligible access.

Subscriptions, trials and cancellation

An auto-renewing subscription continues for successive billing periods until canceled. Apple charges your Apple Account under the terms shown when you purchase. If a trial is offered, it converts to the displayed paid plan unless canceled in time; eligibility and duration are shown before confirmation.

Manage or cancel in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or through Manage purchases in Tuni Pro. Cancel before renewal; for a free or discounted trial, cancel at least 24 hours before its end. Follow Apple’s confirmation and the access date shown there. Removing the app or deleting data does not cancel billing.

Renewal charges may be made within the 24 hours before the next subscription period under Apple’s applicable terms. Any price change is subject to the advance notice and consent required by the store and applicable law. The confirmed store offer governs your actual billing schedule.

Restoring purchases and refunds

Use Restore purchases in Tuni Pro with the same store account to restore eligible purchases. This restores purchase access, not your local learning progress.

Request App Store refunds through Apple. Eligibility is determined under Apple’s policies and applicable law. Nothing here excludes refund or other consumer rights that cannot legally be waived.

For consumers with statutory withdrawal rights, including where applicable in the EU or EEA, those rights and any legally valid exceptions apply. Merely reading or accepting these terms does not waive a right of withdrawal. Any legally required express consent to immediate digital supply and acknowledgment of loss of that right must be obtained through the relevant purchase process. You retain mandatory remedies for a faulty or non-conforming service.

Your device and service availability

You are responsible for a compatible device and any internet or mobile-data costs. New content and purchase checks may require a connection. iOS controls widget refresh timing, so the selected interval is not an exact delivery guarantee.

Learning progress is stored locally and does not currently sync through a Tuni account. Deleting app data or changing devices can lose progress. Device backups depend on your own settings. We cannot promise to recover records that were stored only on your device.

Fair use and changes to the service

Do not misuse the service, attempt unauthorized access, infringe others’ rights or send unlawful material through support. We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to address abuse, legal requirements or security problems. Where practicable and lawful, we will explain the restriction and provide a way to contact us.

We may update content and features or interrupt service for maintenance. Material changes affecting paid access will be handled in accordance with applicable consumer law and store terms; these terms do not give us an unrestricted right to remove paid entitlements.

If we discontinue a paid service or materially reduce contracted access, we will provide the notice and cancellation, refund or other remedies required by applicable law and the store terms. An optional update to these terms alone cannot remove those rights.

Responsibility and your legal rights

We aim to provide a useful, reliable service, but cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. We remain responsible to the extent required by the law that applies to your purchase and use of Tuni.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, or limits mandatory consumer protections, statutory guarantees or remedies, including remedies for digital content or services that do not conform to the contract. Apple’s role and responsibilities are set out in its store terms and the applicable app license.

Third-party content and licenses

The HSK 3.0 word list, pinyin and word types come from ivankra/hsk30 (MIT License). Word translations and example sentences were created for Tuni with AI assistance. Open-source components and their full license texts are listed in the app under About Tuni → Open-source licenses.

Third-party materials remain subject to their respective licenses. These terms do not restrict rights granted by those licenses or apply them to unrelated Tuni content. Contact us if you believe content infringes your rights.

Applicable law and disputes

The governing law provisions in the applicable app license and store terms remain relevant. These service terms do not deprive consumers of mandatory protections in their country of residence or of access to courts or authorities available under applicable law.

You may contact us to seek a resolution, but this does not impose mandatory arbitration or require you to contact us before exercising a statutory remedy. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining terms continue only to the extent permitted by law.

Updates, language and contact

The date above identifies the latest revision. We will give notice of material changes where required and seek agreement where the law requires it. Changes do not remove rights already accrued or retrospectively change the price or scope of a completed purchase.

These terms are available in English and Thai and are intended to have the same meaning. Neither version overrides mandatory consumer protections. Any ambiguity will be interpreted under applicable law. Contact the publisher below with questions or disputes so we can try to resolve them.
